24 August 2025 3:30PM Royal Oak Hotel, 14 Brisbane St, Launceston, TAS, Australia.
Join Launceston Improvised Music Association for an afternoon of Sunday Jazz at The Royal Oak with Louise Denson Trio from Hobart.

The Louise Denson Trio has been delighting audiences in Hobart since Louise moved here permanently in 2021. Tom Robb (drumkit) and Jed Adams (bass) bring their rhythm section expertise to her compositions which include bossa novas, jazz waltzes, deeply romantic and nostalgic boleros, sambas and swingers. Louise loves a beautiful melody above all. Her compositions have won awards and recognition, and have been performed and recorded by artists far and wide, including Downbeat poll-winning trombonist Bill Watrous, Bell Award-winning vocalist Elly Hoyt, Queensland-based Viney-Grinberg Duo, Muses Trio and Southern Cross Soloists.

Louise's recent musical activity here includes regular gigs in Hobart and beyond, and composition commissions for the Richmond Tasmania Bicentenary (2023), Clarence Jazz Festival (2023) and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (2022). She has collaborated with some of Tasmania's finest musicians, including Spike Mason, Phil Bywater, Ken Schroder and Jessie Bywater (sax), Stevie McEntee (trb), Carlos Fereirra and Konrad Park (drums) and many others. It will be an afternoon of excellent and passionate jazzing!
