KIller Queen

18 February 2011 9:00PM Hornsby RSL, 4 High Street, Hornsby, NSW, Australia.

QUEEN is arguably the most prolific and greatest rock band of the twentieth century and their front man Freddie Mercury is seen as the most charismatic and flamboyant performer in contemporary rock. Now “KILLER QUEEN” brings back to life the visual excitement and stage energy for which Queen are renowned. Their Sydney tour is scheduled for February 2011.

Killer Queen have demonstrated that they are the best Queen show in Australia and arguably the World. As testimony to their front man Johnny Blunt’s resemblance to Freddie Mercury, he has just been chosen from contestants worldwide to feature in a Top rating TV Show in Paris, as the World’s closest Freddie Mercury look alike to be aired in 2011. This show has been endorsed by the Queenzone International Fan club as well as Brian May via his Website and the Queen band.

Killer Queen band members also closely resemble Queen and together they deliver an unbelievable package as if you are seeing the “real thing”. They stand alone in showcasing the music of the legendary Queen as they guarantee to rock your venue with hit after hit.

It was in 2003 when Brisbane actor and musician Johnny Blunt conceived the idea for Killer Queen. From this point he added a hot band of Queensland’s best session musicians; a wardrobe of detailed and exactly replicated costumes, a stage presence second to none and Killer Queen was created. Johnny says that from a very young age he was into Queen music and especially the Theatrics of Freddie Mercury and gets a real buzz as punters enjoy his performance of Freddie.

Bearing an uncanny resemblance to Freddie Mercury some audience members have commented on what they saw on stage was Freddie’s ghost; The moment he steps foot on stage, Freddie’s very essence is alive again, and all members of Killer Queen bear a very real and eerie resemblance to Queen both visually and musically.

2011 marks the 40th Anniversary of Queen’s inception and will also see the release of the Movie on Freddie Mercury’s life in a biographical sense.

Members of this production have performed throughout Asia, NZ and Australia as well as being on several TV commercials. Killer Queen was nominated at the 2006 South East Queensland Entertainment Awards as Best Tribute Show, and performs live with no backing tracks! just as Queen did back in their day. Paying attention to every detail Killer Queen guitarist, Anthony Smith uses a signature copy of Queen guitarist Brian May’s guitar to re-create that authentic haunting sound recognized by the millions of fans all around the world. Brian May has seen Killer Queen perform and in his own words “Astounding, HELP!, I’ve seen too much!”

Killer Queen starts in the 1970’s – the decade and leather and long hair, through to the 80’s and 90’s when Queen were the hottest act in music, with such immortal rock hits as “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, ”We Will Rock You” “We Are The Champions” and of course “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

Killer Queen plays to packed houses and passionate audiences, and has built it’s own fan base throughout Australia and overseas. Because the music featured in the show covers the 1970’s through to the millennium, the audience is always a broad collection of fans from eighteen year olds through to retirees – who all share a love of timeless rock music

This is the closest you will ever get to see the supergroup Queen when you witness KILLER QUEEN at Hornsby RSL Club!
